Breath Work, Pranayama and Anxiety

Hey amazing people! In the past I have posted on Yoga and Anxiety and also more about Prana, Pranayama and Your Practice but, today I wanted to touch specifically on breath work and anxiety.

When I am struggling with my anxiety my mind races, I feel like the world is closing in around me and I need to just run or hide, I feel like I am having trouble breathing and I cannot cope with the simplest of tasks. I have found, through my yoga practice, that breathing techniques have really assisted me in easing my anxiety.

There are numerous breathing techniques out there, and some have a greater impact on me than others. To be honest, there is one that, for me, causes me greater anxiety. With that I encourage you to always listen to your body and mind and do what feels good for you. If you find that one technique is not right for you, try another. It never hurts to try.

Pranayama is considered regulating ones breath through certain techniques. It is beneficial to aid in anxiety relief as often times, we begin to breath more rapidly when faced with anxiety.Ā  Breath, or prana, is our life force. Without our breath there is no life. We need it and to find that moment to focus in on our breath work, tuning out the world and just noticing that beautiful life flowing through our bodies. It is magical.

I have created a short video of one of the breathing techniques I personally have found salvation in during some of my difficult days. If you are having trouble with anxiety today or just your focus, perhaps you do not feel present, I encourage you to take a moment and give it a try. I would love to hear how you felt before and after or anything you have found works well for you!

Wish you all a blissful day, wherever you are šŸ™‚

    1. That’s funny to hear yours does too! I think they are more sensitive to energy fields, honestly. So, your space while you are meditating is comforting. šŸ™‚
